DAHA aims to provide a safe and positive environment for the youth in the community of Duluth to participate and excel through the sport of hockey, while learning eight character values: integrity, commitment, courage, honor, hard work, sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication.
The Duluth Amateur Hockey Association isn't just a place where kids can learn to play the game of hockey. This is an organization that believes the kids are people first and players second. At Duluth Hockey, kids ages 4-18 have the opportunity to learn and live the following eight character values: Integrity, Courage, Honor, Dedication, Hard Work, Sportsmanship, Teamwork, and Commitment.
Duluth Hockey parents, grandparents, guardians, aunts, uncles, and friends pour thousands of volunteer hours into each hockey season. They work around the clock at Duluth's seven outdoor neighborhood rinks to make sure youth and adults throughout the Greater Duluth Community have the opportunity to skate. At the older levels of hockey, team managers, treasurers, and parents also dedicate many volunteer hours so the players are able to fully experience all that youth sports have to offer. It's our hope that in turn we can give back and help out these families that are a great example of our eight character values and selflessly dedicate so much of their personal time to the organization.
Duluth Hockey never turns a child or family away! We will provide any child every opportunity to play the great sport of hockey. Duluth Hockey provides thousands of dollars in financial assistance and hockey equipment to families each season. We are able to do this because of generous donors and outstanding business sponsors! Our donors and sponsors are the glue that holds the association together and makes kid's dreams come true.
Please join us in our mission to make the sport of hockey available to every child who wants to play in the city of Duluth and develop good citizens -- not just good hockey players.
These 8 character values originated as the 8 foundational values of the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center. These values are just too good not to be a part of any organization. The Duluth Amateur Hockey Association adopted these values in 2019. Duluth Hockey hopes to first produce great citizens in the community of Duluth and then teach them the sport of hockey.
We encourage parents, coaches, and players to read about what these 8 values mean and think about how you can incorporate them into your life and time around the hockey rink.
