JIM FINDLEY'S MEMORY LIVES ON WITH DAHA

Jim Findley, a long-time Duluth Amateur Hockey Association coach, volunteer and supporter, passed away in February 2021,  but his presence will continue to be felt within the organization thanks to memorials made to his name.

Those donations will go toward the Hank Jensen Memorial Fund, which provides financial assistance to any DAHA boy or girl in need.

“I had the pleasure of knowing Jim and he had a real fiery passion for the sport of hockey – especially at the youth level,” said Bob Nygaard, executive director of DAHA. “His goal was to get more kids involved in this great sport and that’s always been our No. 1 priority as well. We also have never, ever turned away a kid who wants to play but can’t because of financial difficulties and I believe Jim would be touched by these memorials and how they will benefit so many boys and girls in that regard.”

Jim coached in the Glen Avon program and directed his son Sean’s bantam team to a state championship. He also served on the board of directors at Glen Avon before going on to hold various roles with the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.

Separate online applications will need to be filled out for each child applying for financial assistance, but only one set of supporting documents are sent per family.

2. Complete the online form found below. You need to accurately know your yearly household income.

3. E-mail, mail, or return in person to the DAHA Office supporting documents such as W-2 tax information, your latest tax return, documentation that proves your child qualifies for free or reduced lunch, or other documentation that proves your need for financial assistance.  These supporting documents will need to be sent to the DAHA office along with a note explaining that the documents are for financial aid.  These documents need to be received before the October 1, 2024 application deadline for reimbursement of registration funds mid to late December.

Player Registration

2024-25 Season: In an effort to streamline processing, please register your player without getting a code. If you qualify for financial assistance, you will receive a refund of costs. You will still need a credit card or a prepaid cash card to complete the registration and payments can be broken into a payment plan to ease the burden. If this format will not work for your family, please contact Clare, DuluthAmateurHockey@gmail.com or clare@duluthhockey.com, to work out a plan. DAHA will never turn away a player due to financial difficulties.
